Through metal bars

Gordon turned away and stoically fixated a point somewhere on the other side of the bleak room. Both Velkan and Jonathan were grateful for this small amount of privacy he allowed them. Gordon was one of the good guys. Jonathan had met him on his first trip down to the cell block below the mansion but he had never expected to come here to visit Velkan.
It just wasn't fair. He shouldn't be in here. And yet Nicolae remained adamant, no matter the friendship between him and the wolf. Jonathan's attempts to reason with his boss did fall on deaf ears.
"How are you holding up?"
"I should ask you that, kiddo, you look like you haven't slept in days." Velkan reached out and touched Jonathan's cheek. Jonathan held the wolf's hand in place, savouring the touch. "It'll be okay."
"Will it?" Jonathan sighed. "You're in here because of me. If I had been a little stronger..."
"Then you'd be in here, not me. I prefer it this way."
"Stupid, overprotective oaf."
"I love you, too, kiddo."
Jonathan closed his eyes and tenderly kissed the coarse skin of the hand carassing his cheek.

Not perfect but the set up was a little against me. Came out alright in the end I guess. A scene from much later, a point I haven't reached in the story yet. And damn, Velks with those tattoos. *growl*
