Those carefree days

"Come on! I want to show you my favorite place! You'll love it! There's even a waterfall there! Come on!" Dick grabbed Max's hand, pulling the half-merman boy along. Max gasped in surprise but it soon turned to happy laughter as he allowed his wolf to drag him along through the lush, green forest.
Velkan followed at a distance, smiling. He had had his doubts about this relationship, doubts about letting Dick, unstable as he was, close to Max, who needed nothing more than feeling loved and wanted. They were both outsiders, the wolf with the mental sickness, and the half-merman, who didn't belong to either the world of man nor merfolk completely. Maybe they had been meant to be together, destined to mend each other. In hindsight Velkan wished he had been more careful, more the alpha wolf.

Gosh, I missed those characters. The piece is not perfect but it's close to what I had in mind. Time's short at the moment *sigh* Hope you like it! And thanks for sticking with me, guys, despite my lack of presence.
