A hard night's work

"You know... I'm dead already but working with your brother might very well kill me again. I think I'm close to having a stroke."
"I'm pretty sure you missed that opportunity.", Lenka chuckled amusedly. She wrapped her arms around her husband's body, slowly unbuttoning his expensive, silken shirt.
"He's driving me crazy. You know I love this guy like a brother but I bloody swear my own brother was less of a pain in the arse and you know how that turned out."
"Did you just compare my brother to someone who was possessed by a murderous demon?", she laughed, fully aware of what Nicolae meant. She had not talked to Velkan in ages. Ever since that terrible night when they had almost turned into wolves over dessert and fought it out, had Nicolae not stepped in. Lenka loved her brother dearly but she also was sure he was ruining his life with his obsession for that bloodcrazed wolf, Dick. Lenka could not help it, her upbringing had been traditional and she feared bloodlust. It was a dangerous disease and her brother had it difficult as it was. They both actually had it difficult. Working for one or being married to a vampire, either way they were looked down upon by their own people. Lenka did not care much but she knew deep inside her brother just wanted to belong somewhere. Beneath all those scars and behind the walls he had erected inside he was a lost soul and she did not think that Dick was helping with that.
"I'll fix you a drink...", she muttered, letting go of her half-dressed husband.
"Wait... I thought we were going to..."
"No, sorry, sweetie, I'm not in the mood." Lenka left for the kitchen.
"What did I say now?" Nicolae asked baffled completely.

Nicolae, finally I'm happy with him. I noticed that despite my love for redheads I hadn't had a single redhead character in my story. So Nico had to step in. Okay, he is straight (well he is married and faithful since Vampires don't really care about gender) but nobody's perfect, eh? *lol*
